NEW ARRIVAL Banner logo Gibsons - only made between 1942 and 1945 - are always very good, and usually better than their non Banner equivalents. This example of an L00 is especially impressive, fuller and richer sounding than most L00's I've played, a deeper bass than you'd associate with a small bodied guitar - so much so that it's as good a strummer as it is a fingerpicker. Made in 1942 it's the first year of the Banner logo, and is the only year Gibson used a Mahogany top rather than Spruce, maybe that's why the tone is so warm. Also it has a chunkier neck which allows the guitar to resonate more and therefore produce more sustain. This example is clearly battle worn, and has many scars which indicate a well gigged guitar, it also has a replaced back probably done sometime in the 60's. Structurally the guitar is strong and good to go for another 70 plus years, the playing experience is an absolute joy. It comes in it's original hard case.
