NEW ARRIVAL The LG2 was made from 1942 - 1962, but a Banner logo LG2 is a rare find, only available from 1942 - 1945, and is one of the most desirable Gibson models available. During the war they were only made in small numbers, and this is a very unusual example, first year of issue meaning it has a Mahogany top as Spruce was unavailable, and the very desirable ‘skunk stripe’ Maple neck. The main difference of the 40's LG2's is the neck - it's fat and chunky - meaning the string spacing is easier for fingerstyle play, and it carries fuller tone and more sustain than it's 50's equivalents. It’s had the original sunburst finish stripped so you can see the beautiful Mahogany grain, and the entire guitar has been oversprayed. So it has the look and feel of a modern guitar, but the unmistakable vintage tone - and what a sound..... very mellow and smooth - a real joy to play. The guitar looks and plays great and comes in it's original hard case.
