NEW ARRIVAL Having made their name in the mid-price acoustic guitar market, Freshman have decided to take on the high end brands with their 600 series. Using Carpathian Spruce and Quilted Mahogany, tone woods usually associate with far more expensive guitars, they’ve produced a surprisingly good guitar. Even the use of Walnut and Maple binding, together with the Ebony fingerboard and bridge, bone nut and saddle and open back Grover tuners, are signs of quality and attention to detail. Tonally the guitar delivers the classic 'oomph' and projection that hallmarks the dreadnought design but the low end sounds much tighter and less boomy than you might expect from a typical dread. Even when strummed fairly vigorously the low end stays very focused with a very well balanced tone that doesn't overpower the upper register. The treble frequencies also sound crisp yet sweet-sounding, there is none of the harshness at the top end that you sometimes get when you play a dreadnought with a flatpick, The hand carved Mahogany neck makes the whole playing experience very enjoyable. The guitar comes fitted with an LR Baggs active iBeam system that sounds very natural when plugged in. The guitar is in excellent condition and comes in it’s original Hiscox flight case.
