1989 Martin HD28 Grand Marquis – £4499

NEW ARRIVAL  Just when you think you’ve played all the great D28’s, an absolute belter comes along. This is my first Grand Marquis model, and it’s spectacular….. 1989 is the first incarnation of the Grand Marquis made in extremely limited numbers. The guitar has very high end features in a classic, but not too over the top finish. There’s an Adirondack Spruce top over highly figured Indian Rosewood back and sides. The body has herringbone rosette and purfling, tortoise pickguard and body binding, and a hand signed C.F. Martin label. The fingerboard and bridge are beautifully inlaid with abalone style 45 snowflake inlays and the headstock features a block inlay with engraved tuners. This Grand Marquis is a luxurious and sophisticated sounding version of an HD-28. There’s real power coming from the Adirondack top, very resonant with great bass response, but the ability to handle delicate playing with subtlety and nuance – a true all rounder. The guitar is in very good condition, with just a few light surface dings. It has an active under saddle pickup fitted and comes in a non original hard case.
