2000 Simon and Patrick Pro Flamed Maple – £449

NEW ARRIVAL  Simon and Patrick are a well established maker in the affordable, mid range acoustic market. This guitar is from their Pro range – now known as the Showcase range – which is an all solid wood, high gloss example. This particular guitar features a beautiful three piece Flame Maple back together with Spruce top and Maple sides. It’s a significant jump up from their Woodland range. The Maple back and sides add a punchiness and a zing to the tone. The bass is full but bright, and the overall balance is very even. As a 24 year old guitar it’s been well played, and the tone has really benefitted from this. There’s a fair amount of visible playwear, particularly around the soundhole, and some lacquer checking, one of which has been repaired. The guitar feels very substantial and really well put together. The neck is comfortable and the playability is great.
