2005 Olivewood 00 – £1249

NEW ARRIVAL Based in Nottinghamshire, Malcolm Weaver started making guitars in 2001. During this time, he developed a particular interest in small bodied steel-string guitars, which inspired him to explore different possibilities of sound by experimenting with woods, techniques, bracing methods etc. The design of the Olivewood 00 guitar was inspired by the Martin 00-45, but was complimented by subtle design features and a distinctive Spanish Olivewood rosette. This example features aSpruce top with Fiddleback Blackwood back and sides. The neck is Mahogany, the fingerboard and bridge are Ebony, and the bindings are Walnut – all signs of real quality. The guitar sounds rich, warm and resonant – the Blackwood projects really well, but is never overpowering. It’s a very balanced guitar with great versatility and broad dynamic range. The guitar’s in very good condition, with no cracks or repairs, just moderate signs of playwear. It plays well, and feels very comfortable. There’s an undersaddle pickup fitted and the guitar comes in a non original hard case.
