2018 Guild D55 – £2299

NEW ARRIVAL  Guild have long gone below the radar of high end US acoustics, and the D55 is their top of the line dreadnought. It was first introduced in 1968 as a special-order model, and was so well-received that Guild added it into the regular production line by 1974. It remains true to all the premium appointments of its 1968 predecessor, including a AAA Sitka Spruce top, solid Indian Rosewood back and sides, Ebony fingerboard and bridge, and nitrocellulose finish. Visually it has classic good looks, with the instantly recognisable pickguard and bridge, and the highly decorative fingerboard inlays and G brand headstock logo. The D-55’s nitro finish is hand sprayed for minimum thickness and maximum resonance that will only get better with age. Put all of that together and you have a very responsive guitar, with great resonance, a fantastic bass response, and an overall full tone. The guitar’s in very good condition, with enough playwear to tell you it’s been played but looked after. It has a Fishman Ellipse Blend pickup system fitted and comes in a non original hard case.
