1969 Gibson J45 – £2999
NEW ARRIVAL This 1969 J45 has one of the most vivd cherry sunburst finishes I’ve seen, really eye catching, and contrasts beautifully with the black teardrop pickguard. Tonally it has a very familiar sound, similar to lots of 60’s and 70’s singer songwriter recordings, warm, rich and lush, Strummed it has a full, smooth tone, and fingerpicked it has the clarity to cut through. It feels like it’s been played every day of it’s 55 years, the tone has mellowed so much, and just oozes character. Yet it’s in very good condition, with just one small area of damage, just above the bridge, which doesn’t go through the top. The Rosewood bridge with adjustable saddle has been replaced and had a bone saddle fitted. The unusual thing about this example is that, unlike most late 60’s Gibsons, it has a full feeling neck, which is very comfortable and has a low action. The guitar comes in a later Gibson embossed hard case.
