1958 Gibson J45 – £5799

NEW ARRIVAL  Something special happens when you pick up a really good vintage Gibson. It feels immediately comfortable and somehow familiar. It makes you play songs you haven’t played for years, yet makes you want to start writing new ones. It’s a very involving and emotive experience. This 1958 J45 does exactly what it says on the tin – a true classic. It looks great, feels great, and sounds great. There’s a dry rumble in the bass, a smooth sparkle in the trebles, and an evenness in the mids that gives a great balance. The guitar is in good condition, with just the right amount of playwear to tell you it’s been played and loved. The neck feels great and the action is very comfortable. There’s a repaired top crack that runs either side of the soundhole along the high E string, and some amazing looking lacquer checking. There’s also some discolouration on the pickguard, where it looks as though there may have been a chemical reaction with the lacquer and the pickguart material. It’s an American classic, and as a 50’s Gibson it’s highly desirable. The guitar comes in a non original vintage hard case.
