NEW ARRIVAL
This guitar is a real beauty, and in amazing condition for a 101
year old guitar. Historically it's very desirable, it has 'The
Gibson' logo which was only available from 1908 to the late 1920's,
and it has it's original 'Gibson Mandolin - Guitar Co' label which
was used from 1908 to 1932. Also it's a rare example of an arch top
guitar with a central sound hole. Tonally it's voiced for blues and
jazz - this is the predecessor to the flat top L1 that Robert
Johnson famously played - and if you want to recreate that Robert
Johnson or Leadbelly growl then this guitar gets you close. The
feel of the guitar is just great - it really is like holding a
piece of history, yet it plays superbly well, and it's still
structurally very strong so you don't feel like you have to handle
it with kid gloves. I had my luthier set it up, so the action is
low - all the way down the neck - in fact he told me it feels good
to go for another 100 years. The guitar has two professionally
repaired top cracks: one running next to the neck - bass side -
down to the soundhole, the other running from the bridge down to
the end of the guitar - treble side of the tailpiece. Neither
affect the guitar in any way, either tonally or structurally.
Whether you're a collector or a player, this guitar is a true
example of an overused expression - it has real Mojo. The guitar
comes in a brand new tweed case which compliments the vibe of the
guitar
