NEW ARRIVAL Only made between 1902 - 1925, the L-1 underwent several design changes - and this is the earliest version. It’s a 12 1/2” wide body with a 12 fret neck join, and fixed bridge, which was only produced until 1907. It then became a 13 fret neck join with a 13 1/2” body, and a trapeze tailpiece. By 1926 the L-1 became a flat top, famously played by Robert Johnson. So this is the earliest spec L-1 of one of the most important acoustic guitars ever made. For a 113 year old guitar, it’s in amazing condition, with no cracks or repairs, even the inner label is still in tact and legible. Tonally it sounds like it’s being played through an old gramophone - and it gets your mind playing tricks that you could be in the deep south, sitting on a front porch watching the sun go down over the Mississippi….. It’s surprisingly comfortable to play, with good action and a great feeling V profile neck. It comes in a non original hard case.
